#4767 – Hunger & Thirst

Good morning people who chase after God with everything you have.

Matthew 5:6 NIV Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Hunger: ‘to famish, to crave’

Thirst: ‘to thirst for’

Righteousness: ‘state of him who is as he ought to be, the condition acceptable to God’

Filled: ‘to gorge (supply food in abundance), feed, fill, satisfy’

We are not righteous in and of ourselves. It is not about human striving in order to produce spiritual results. This will never work.

But it is about actively and fully pursuing after the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, including partnering with Him to put on the things of the Spirit and to put off the works of the flesh.

Righteousness does not happen accidentally or casually. Intentional and wholehearted pursuit and cooperation with the Holy Spirit is needed.

Righteousness is a result of saying “YES” to the Spirit and “NO” to the flesh. Waiting for it to be easier will not result in righteousness.

The full and satisfying life that every soul deeply craves is found only in the righteousness of God. And there is a doorway open into God’s righteousness today.

Will you walk through it?
