Good morning people who know the Author of the gifts of God.

When it comes to spiritual gifts, the following is true:

“It’s not what you have – it’s what you are ruled by.”

Paul encouraged people to eagerly desire spiritual gifts. I encourage people the same. God gives His gifts for the benefit of the body. We should desire them and we should stir them up.

But you can have spiritual gifts and yet not be ruled by the Spirit of the gifts.

Paul encourages the church in 1 Corinthians 14:1 to ‘follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts.’

The correct starting, middle and end point of eagerly desiring spiritual gifts is ‘follow the way of the love’. To follow means someone is leading.

God is love and it is He who should be the author of every motivation and expression of His spiritual gifts through us.

Here’s a great question to ask when we operate in spiritual gifts:

Is it the gift that grabs people’s attention most, or is it God’s heart through our expression of His gifts that people are drawn towards?
