Good morning people who follow the example of Jesus
Jesus submits to the Father. He did on the earth, and He does in eternity.
In the garden just before He was arrested, Jesus uttered these well known words of submission to His Father:
Luke 22:42 NIV “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
Jesus’ desire to not go to the cross was oh so reasonable. Yet the Father’s plan of salvation for the human race was solely to be realised through this path.
What was Jesus to do?
He was to submit, and that’s exactly what He did.
You and I now walk in eternal life and freedom today because of Jesus’ submission to His Father’s declared will.
And don’t forget, Jesus is the Son of God! If submission to the Father is good enough for Jesus, it is good enough for us.
You might say, “Yeah, I agree Steve. I submit to the Father, but it’s submission to people that I struggle with.”
Permit me to lean into this a little more tomorrow. The Holy Spirit has whispered a very surprising statement to me that might just help you move forward in a healthy and godly way.
