Good morning people who think about our God who is worthy of worship
Philippians 4:8 NIV Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
I have read this verse, meditated on this verse, and preached from this verse countless times. Yet, I am being pulled towards seeing this familiar scripture through a fresh lens. Isn’t the Holy Spirit wonderful!
Yes, the word noble here means honest and honourable, but it comes from a root word meaning revere, adore and worship.
So, what does the Holy Spirit want to say to us today?
The noble things that God wants us to give our focused attention to are not just noble, honest and honourable as the world would define them.
Rather, the noble things that we are told to think about are the things that draw us upward in reverence, adoration and worship of God. Wow!
I’m starting to see that the list of things in this verse are not just everyday things, as good as they may be. All of these listed things find their origin in who God is, and it is HIM that we are told to continually think about!
