#4718 – Deny Yourself

Good morning people who refuse to let your self rule in place of Jesus

Matthew 16:24 NIV Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

This is so counter-cultural to the pervading and perverted spirit of the age. The culture of the world that is being preached so loudly is, “If it feels right to you, then it is right. Do what you feel like doing and be who you feel like being.”

Permit me to be clear. If what you feel like doing and who you feel you are is different to God’s design, pattern and stated plan in His Word, then it is not legitimate for disciples of Jesus Christ.

The Lord said to me recently while I was preaching on this: “If you don’t deny yourself, you will destroy yourself.” And this is what is happening to many Christians who are not fulfilling this essential first ingredient of being a disciple of Jesus Christ!

Jesus said, “You must deny yourself.” You must. It’s not optional. It’s not easy. It’s not comfortable. It’s not convenient. It’s not popular. It’s not politically correct. It’s not tolerant.

But it is essential if we are ever going to be disciples of Jesus Christ that accurately represent our Father and see His kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is done in heaven!

Disciples deny themselves; they must say NO to what they want, and they must say YES to what God has said.
