#4716 – True Discipleship

Good morning people who give your life to following Jesus

Most, if not all, Christians would say that they are disciples of Jesus Christ. The truth is, the words Christianand disciple should be synonymous, but the facts would often indicate otherwise.

It’s time for a return to true discipleship.

Disciples are pupils; they are students. This means that they are learning and submitting and growing. Yes, they believe in Jesus, and yes, they have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, but disciples actually follow Jesus by following the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Disciples move from natural thinking to spiritual thinking. Disciples move from their rights to a submission of their wills. Disciples obey God even when their desires and flesh crave something different. Disciples submit to God’s authority and God’s delegated authority on earth; other people.

The most accurate and potent definition of Jesus on being a disciple is the following scripture:

Matthew 16:24 NIV Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

There is so much in here, so let’s lean in deeply over coming days before I open up something really important for us in the times that we live in.
