Good morning those who always want to honour Christ
Philippians 1:20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
Paul’s single focus in life was honouring Christ. This was the most important thing to him. So many times through his writings his heart for God is clearly seen.
His desire like John the Baptist was to decrease and Christ to increase in his life. His desire was to have Christ live in him and through him. His desire was to have people follow him as he followed Christ. His desire was to press on and lay hold of everything God had for him. His desire was to build up, to strengthen and encourage the Church by living a life that was an example. His desire was to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ with signs and wonders following. His desire was to see people added to the Church daily. His desire was to see people become whole-hearted followers of Jesus Christ.
Paul knew that the way he lived his life determined his effectiveness and Christ’s effectiveness through him. He knew he wasn’t perfect but he was pressing on and focused in his intention. He relied upon the power of the Holy Spirit and kept central in his mind the encounter he had with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Paul was determined to live a life worthy and honouring of the God who radically saved him.
May we all live lives like Paul; lives that are always Christ-centred.
