Good morning people who learn about others
So often our lives can be lived quite selfishly (or maybe that’s just me!). Often our greatest desire is to be heard in a conversation. We are sort of listening, well more like hearing some words coming out of another person’s mouth, while waiting for the slightest inhale that possibly could resemble a pause so that we can jump in there with our next words of wisdom or good advice (again, maybe this is just me!). Many times we hear but we don’t often listen.
Here’s a thought out of left field for all of us today.
Let’s make our focus today to learn something new about someone we speak to. This will involve asking questions and then listening to the answer. Maybe we could try a little harder to remember a new person’s name. This might take a little more listening while they speak and a little less thinking about the next thing we want to say. Once they’ve mentioned their name, why not ask them a few other things about themselves while using their name in the sentence (this will help you to remember it better).
I know this is not a deeply spiritual BIY on the surface but the result might be one of the most godly things we have done for awhile. The result of starting to ask questions, listen more and learn about others will be adding value to them as individuals. When we do this well, people feel important and valuable
