#4643 – Faith & Fear

Good morning people who obey God even when you are afraid

Hebrews 11:32 NIV And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets.

Here’s another thing I see when I read Gideon’s story:

In faith, Gideon obeyed God, even though he was scared.

Have a look at just two scriptures that highlight this:

Judges 6:27 NIV So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the Lord told him. But because he was afraid of his family and the townspeople, he did it at night rather than in the daytime.

Judges 7:10-11 NIVIf you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” So he and Purah his servant went down to the outposts of the camp.

Gideon had questions that he asked God, and he was also afraid. Yet, by faith, he still obeyed.

And I believe this is what God expects from us too.

Ask God your questions, and don’t pretend you aren’t afraid, but still obey.

Yes, it takes faith, but that’s who we are – people of faith.
