#4628 – Through Contradictions

Good morning people who put your confidence in the God who speaks

Hebrews 11:17-19 NIV By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

How do we respond when an instruction from God seems to contradict a promise from God?

This story provides us with the ultimate example.

God said very clearly to Abraham, “My promise to you will be fulfilled through your son Isaac.”

Therefore, Isaac needed to remain alive for the word of God to come to pass.

Next, the God who gave the word to Abraham, told Abraham to sacrifice the only way the word could come to pass.

Our story will be different, but I believe we will all have moments when there is a disconnect between the promises of God and His instructions towards us.

I don’t proclaim to you that this is easy. But I simply join you on this faith journey.

Together, let’s make a covenant commitment to obey God, no matter what.
