Good morning people who live life looking forward to heaven
Hebrews 11:13-16 NIV All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
Which direction are you looking?
Too many times, we are trying to live forward, while looking backwards. The result is never good. If you try to drive forward in a car, while continually looking in your rearview mirror, you will crash. And so it is true in our lives spiritually.
Here’s what Paul says:
Philippians 3:13-14 NIV Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Faith-filled people press on towards heaven.
Yes, we live life well here on earth – we should be an example worth following – but our gaze is forward with eager anticipation.
