#4613 – Faith, Fear & Obedience

Good morning people whose faith stirs something up in people’s lives

Hebrews 11:7 NIV By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.

Now, this is an interesting statement. But there is an insight that I see which is very much for us today.

The Bible says the following truth:

John 3:17 NIV For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Jesus’ life and obedience to the Father resulted in revelation of truth to many, who by faith believed in Him and received eternal life. Praise God!

Yet Jesus’ life and obedience to the Father also condemned those who refused to listen to the truth, and by so doing, rejected eternal life.

By faith, in holy fear, and through obedience to what God said, Noah’s life condemned those who refused to listen to and accept the truth.

And so it is for us today. It is not our verbal attack of unbelievers and our pronouncement of judgement against “the heathen” that is needed.

It is our faith, our holy fear, and our obedience to God that will result in eternal life for some, and condemnation for others.

Let God be God and let us be people who learn from and follow the example of Noah.
