#4541 – God’s Forgiveness

Good morning people who have the opportunity to be forgiven by God

What is God’s forgiveness dependent on?

Three things comes to my mind:

  1. A revelation of sin.

Sin is a word that is too offensive to many these days. But the truth is, there can be no forgiveness of sins unless we acknowledge it as it is. Sin cannot be prettied up or minimised by more palatable language. Sin is to miss the mark of God’s perfect standard. We have all sinned and we all need a Saviour.

  1. A confession of sin.

1 John 1:9 NIV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Confessing our sins is needed in order to be forgiven of our sins. Confession is a mark of humility, and humility is a key to enjoying the life that God has planned for us. The beautiful and promised part is that our Father will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness!! Therefore, confession is a wonderful thing!

  1. Forgiving others.

Matthew 6:14-15 NIV For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Many often struggle with the thought of forgiving those who have terribly hurt them. This is naturally understandable and it is not easy to do. But today, the God of love wants to lift our eyes to His promise; He will forgive us if we forgive others! Don’t focus on the cost to us, but rather, focus on the promise of God. Freedom comes from forgiveness; God to us, and us to others.
