#453 – He Restores

Good morning those who God wants to restore

Psalm 23:1-3a The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.

Many of us need this today; we need our souls restored. How do we allow God to do this? A good place to start is with allowing the previous verses to become our core convictions and our daily lifestyle. Why not take a few minutes and reflect on the four portions of what is said before ‘He restores my soul’.

We are spiritual beings living in human bodies in a relational world that is broken and hurting. Our souls (our mind, will and emotions) affect us greatly and many times we don’t know how to handle them.

I have personally struggled with this a lot (maybe you have too). Is there a quick fix pill that solves all our problems? I don’t think so but I believe there are many things we can do to help us including prayer, rest, meditation on the Word, talking to someone, getting a hobby, getting a vision, seeing a doctor, getting some exercise and the list goes on.

Is there one essential ingredient regardless of the cause or the cure? Yes and we see it clearly here. Psalms says ‘HE restores my soul’. We need God, we absolutely do. We can try as hard as we like and many times it will end in deeper frustration. We need God and we need to allow Him to restore us. He may do this supernaturally all by Himself, but He also may do it by prompting us where to go and what to do. We must be careful not to miss God’s restoration because it came in a box we didn’t expect.

He restores my soul.
