Good morning people who don’t blame God for being tempted

James 1:13 NIV When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.

When tempted, we are tempted by our own desires (we will look at this further) or by the enemy and his fiery darts.

But we are never tempted to sin by God and it is never His fault. Never.

One of the most common oppositions I hear to people following Jesus is connected to them blaming God for the terrible things that people do in the world. I believe God’s heart must break with some of the things that He is accused of doing.

So, let me remind us all today: God is a good Father and all that He created and all that He does is perfectly good!! There are no exceptions!! None!

Your belief determines your behaviour, and in this area, we need to settle this once and for all: Temptation to sin is not from God.

“But Steve, wasn’t Jesus led into temptation by the Holy Spirit?”

No. Jesus was led into the wilderness, where He was tempted by the devil; He was not led into temptation by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 4:1 NIV Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

And this verse makes it clear that the devil can tempt us even when God is leading us. Don’t fear the devil – resist him and walk in your victory that is found in Christ!
