#4449 – Satan’s Schemes

Good morning people who ask for the wisdom of God against the enemy

Ephesians 6:11 NIV Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes.

This word ‘schemes’ in the KJV is ‘wiles’ and it means: ‘lie in wait, cunning arts, trickery, deceit’. There is nothing clear about a scheme. In fact, many people get sucked into schemes because they look and sound so good. But schemes never end well. Schemes are for the benefit of the one doing the scheming, never for the benefit of the one who the scheme is being presented to.

The greatest weapon the enemy has is not a full frontal attack, but his schemes. A blatant attack is one thing. It can be seen for what it is. But a scheme is more subtle because it is disguised and is not seen for what it is.

We need the wisdom of God through the Person of the Holy Spirit to reveal what is actually happening in the spiritual realm. When things are naturally going wrong, when situations are turning against us, when promises are being delayed, when confusion and disappointment reign, we need to lean into prayer with a desire for the enemy’s schemes to be unveiled so that we can fight the actual enemy, not his smokescreen.

The enemy’s schemes cannot be overcome by one weapon. The belt of truth is not enough. The breastplate of righteousness is not enough. The gospel of peace is not enough. The shield of faith is not enough. The helmet of salvation is not enough. The sword of the Spirt which is the Word of God is not enough. Praying in the Spirit on all occasions is not enough. The Bible is clear: ‘Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.’
