Good morning wise stewards of your excess
In the story where Jesus feed the five thousand men plus women and children; He made a statement that holds in it a principle for us all today.
John 6:12-13 When they had all had enough to eat, He said to His disciples, “Gather all the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
Jesus instruction was to not waste anything of what He had provided.
As Believers, sometimes our focus on financial stewardship is only when we do not have much. Our thinking is we need to be wise stewards so that we have enough to make ends meet. I believe the principle of stewardship goes well beyond that.
Maybe you are one who God has blessed excessively. Maybe you are one with ‘more than enough’ for your needs and you are blessed enough to have plenty left over. God’s word to you today is ‘let nothing be wasted’. This does not mean you cannot have fun but we are responsible for all that God has provided.
This same principle applies to our time. What do we do with our free time; our excess time? I believe God would say the same thing ‘let none of it be wasted’. Again, that doesn’t mean don’t have fun and relax, that’s a Biblical imperative, but it is a good thing to include God in how we use our time.
