Good morning people who respond right
God knows our needs and God cares enough to promise provision for every need. Yet there is often a test to see if we really trust Him. If God would ask us personally “Can I provide for you?” most of us would answer “Yes” with our words. But in the moment do we really believe it? We can learn something from the disciples’ response when Jesus asked them a question about provision.
John 6:5-9 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for He already had in mind what He was going to do. Philip answered Him, “Eight months’ wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley laves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many!”
Look at the two responses. The first from Philip was in essence “It’s impossible! It can’t be done with what is available.” The second from Andrew was in essence “We have something but it’s not enough.”
When God asks us this same question “How will your needs get met?” will we look around first at what’s humanly possible or will we look up first and acknowledge the supplier of our needs? I encourage us today to look up and allow God to show us how He will supply.
