#4369 – Fighting Together

Good morning people who fight together against the real enemy

Soldiers fight alongside other people against a common enemy.

In a battle, soldiers on the same side don’t fight each other, they fight against a common enemy. Even if soldiers aren’t getting on too well back at the base, on a battlefield they know that it is life or death. On a battlefield, they are on the same side.

Many relationships fail because people who should be fighting together end up fighting each other. I’m not ignoring very real circumstances that are devastating – God forbid. But the truth is, these devastating circumstances exist because the wrong battles are being fought, rather than the right battles being fought together.

The devil hates what God created, and God created marriage; a union between a man and a woman where the two become one. The government, the lobbyists, the misunderstood, the marginalised, the world, and dare I say it, the Church, have no right to change what God created. His pattern is right, all others are wrong.

The common enemy we are called to fight against together is a spiritual enemy. Satan was defeated two thousand years ago, yet he still fights on today in a hope that we do not realise that he is legally defeated.

Fighting alone is dangerous. Fighting together is powerful! Here’s what the Bible says:

Deuteronomy 32:30 NIV How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?

Notice the equation: one chasing a thousand and two chasing ten thousand. There is an exponential power in unity! And notice too that the Rock, the Lord, gets involved!!

It’s time to fight together against a common enemy – this is what followers of Jesus do.
