Good morning overcoming people of God

Yesterday I said we should pray that God would keep us from temptation. The reality is that there will be times when we do face temptation. Can we withstand every temptation we face? If so how?

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

The focus of this passage is not the dread of facing temptations but the fact that God is faithful and He always provides a way out so that we do not fall. Our challenge is accepting God’s way out. It might be walking away from the conversation, not going to the party in the first place, not opening another block of chocolate or turning the TV off before the program starts.

Part of the process to overcoming temptation is a belief that WE CAN – BECAUSE OF WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR US. It’s all about our focus. God HAS provided a way out and we CAN choose to take the way out that He has graciously provided. We must not believe the lie that cripples so many “I CAN’T!” God’s Word is truth and the truth is WE CAN
