Good morning people who desire to live free

Sometimes our focus is on overcoming temptation (which is essential if it is there) but I think we should be praying more that God would keep us from temptation. Look at the collective counsel of these verses.

Luke 22:40 On reaching the place, He said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

1 Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

When was the last time you prayed “Lord please keep temptation away from me?” Maybe that is a prayer that you need to pray daily. If you are not tempted, you won’t sin. Sometimes our focus is being in the gladiator arena praying “God keep the lion from eating me!” Maybe our focus should be praying “Lord keep me out of the arena!” If you’re not in the arena, you won’t get eaten.
