#4343 – Watch and Pray

Good morning people who stay awake and persevere in prayer

In Jesus’ most difficult moment, He asked His disciples to ‘watch and pray’ with Him. They repeatedly fell asleep. It was then that Jesus uttered these very well known words:

Mark 14:38 NIV Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Have a look with me at what these words mean.

Watch: ‘to stay awake’

Pray: ‘to pray to God’

Fall: ‘to enter’

Temptation: ‘a putting to proof’

Spirit: ‘the word used for the Holy Spirit’

Willing: ‘predisposed, ready’

Flesh: ‘the body as opposed to the soul or spirit’

Weak: ’strengthless’

There is much in this, and I think I might lean in a little further tomorrow.
