Good morning people who strengthen others
Luke 22:31-32 Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.
What a powerful passage! I think there is something in here for everyone. Here’s what I see.
1. Nothing catches God by surprise. He knew what Satan desired to do to Simon and He knows what Satan (and others) desire to do to us.
2. Jesus is praying for us. God is totally for us; He wants the best for us.
3. A moment of failure is different to dying spiritually. Simon did ‘fail’ Jesus as we would interrupt it but the original word ‘fail’ used in the line ‘I have prayed that your faith may not fail’ means ‘omit, cease, die’. Jesus knew Simon would ‘fail’ Him (as we would say) but He knew that Simon’s faith would not fail (cease, die). You too may have fallen, but that does not have to be the end!
4. Once restored, we should help others be restored. I want to lovingly encourage every person that has experienced the grace of God to be a dispenser of the grace of God. If you have received forgiveness from God, pass it on to others. If you have been strengthened by God, strengthen others. Turn your moments of failure into fuel to help others be free.
Oh how rich the Word of God is. It is life to all who will live in it. It is daily bread to those who meditate on it and ask for revelation from the Holy Spirit. I earnestly encourage you today to recommit to going deeper in God’s precious Word. It must become the blueprint for our lives.
