#432 – Strange Questions

Good morning people who trust God

A man visibly crippled who had been that way for thirty-eight years encountered Jesus. Have a look at the question Jesus asked him.

John 5:9 When Jesus say him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, He asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

What a strange question for Jesus to ask someone in need. It could have been interrupted as insulting or even make someone question Jesus’ authenticity: “He can’t be the Son of God if He has to ask that question!”

This isn’t the only time Jesus asked such questions. Jesus asked a blind man that was calling out to Him for mercy what he wanted. (Luke 18:35-43) Wasn’t it obvious Jesus? Another time He went as far as insulting a woman with a comparative comment to a dog (Mark 7:24-30).

I don’t understand some of these things. I don’t think I would say them, especially if I was Jesus. So why did He ask these questions and say these strange and questionable things? I don’t know but I choose to trust Him anyway.

I don’t fully understand all the ways of God but I know that He is good, He is loving, kind and merciful, His heart is for people and His desire is for every person to walk in freedom. These are the things that I know and I will always trust Him no matter what.

How about you?
