Good morning people who are living supernatural lives
I’ve been drawn recently to the thought of being spiritually minded as a way of life – as opposed to occasionally thinking on a spiritual level.
What we think about is important.
There is a war on for our minds. Do you believe this? Some people don’t like talk about a war that we are involved in but that doesn’t mean it is not happening – it is. And it is not a small passive assault.
We are living in a world that is strategically and relentlessly attacking our minds with everything that is contrary to God’s Word. It is on the TV, in the newspapers, at the movies, in the music, on the web, at the shops, at our sporting events, driving down the road…it is everywhere and it never stops.
One option is to purchase yourself an island and live out your days in solitude. There are some definite draw-backs with this!
Maybe a better option, a God-option, is to be more strategic and relentless in what we choose to think about.
Yes we will see and hear things that we shouldn’t simply because we are alive. That doesn’t mean we have to then think about them. In fact, we need to choose not to think about them and to not dwell on them.
That said, sometimes we probably allow too much stuff, God-dishonouring stuff, to enter our senses and wonder why it is difficult to be spiritually minded. We need to be really honest with ourselves and with God about what we choose to watch and listen to.
Today is a day to reassess and put everything through the filter of God’s Word.
Philippians 4:8 NIV Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praise-worthy – think about such things.
