#4244 – Abraham’s Life

Good morning people who trust God fully even when you have questions

Was God sovereign in the life of Abraham?

Abraham experienced something that many of us have yet his response is different to many. Abraham went through a situation where it appeared God was contradicting His Own Word. Have you ever felt that?

God promised Abraham a son, and many descendants through him. Abraham received this son from God and named him Isaac. Then God did something that seemed to go against His very nature: He asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. Isaac was the promise of God which was given to him by God and now God was asking Abraham to kill the promise.

This is never easy.

Yet Abraham shows us clearly that he trusted God’s sovereignty.

Hebrews 11:17-19 NIV By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.

God never violates His Word. He sometimes does things in ways we don’t understand, but we can fully trust Him. Our incredible God is sovereign and He is always for us. God is so good.
