Good morning those who remember God’s Words
After Jesus was crucified, some of the women who followed Jesus went to the tomb to anoint His Body with spices. When they arrived they found the stone rolled away and Jesus’ Body was gone. The angels appeared and this is what they said.
Luke 24:5b-8 “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: “The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’” Then they remembered His words.
What a powerful phrase, ‘Then they remembered His words’. Fear, worry, doubt and falling into error occur when we do not remember what God has said. There are two vital thoughts here.
1. We must know the truth. We must first get it in to us. There is a need to memorise the Word of God. Reading it is not enough. We must ‘hide it in our hearts’. How much of God’s Word do you know?
2. We must remember the truth. Lots of what we have learnt, we forget because we never use it or go over it. So it is with God’s Word. We need to memorise it and then we need to meditate on it. We need to think about it, bring it to remembrance, talk about it and live it. How much of God’s Word do you remember and meditate on?
I believe for some of you today, it is time to move from talking about more time in the Word to doing it. You know it needs to be a greater priority but the truth is it’s too easy to make excuses. Your life will be blessed as you make time in God’s Word a top priority.
