#4216 – Follow Jesus

Good morning people who act quickly when God speaks

Matthew 4:18-20 NKJV And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

When Jesus called these men to follow Him, they left what they were doing immediately and followed Him. There was no thought about what they were to do with their different commitments. Their thoughts were simply to follow the One who had called them. Their immediate response did not allow time for questioning, doubts and rationalisation to determine a different response. There was something in Jesus that compelled them to follow immediately; at once.

How quickly do we obey when God calls us to follow Him?

There are many good excuses why we will obey God…later…but none of them are valid. If God speaks, our response should be immediate.

Trust is the key issue.

Do you trust God knows what He is doing? Do you trust that God’s plans are perfect and best for you?

If you do, immediate obedience is the only reasonable response; the only one that pleases God.
