Good morning people who let it go

Far too many people are bound because they have chosen to take offense. The reality is we will all have many opportunities in life to be offended. People let us down. People say things that hurt us deeply and that cause many strong emotions to rise up inside of us. People say things that are untrue and unfounded yet they are spoken with great persuasion to others. People hurt us physically and cause great damage. Life is not fair and life can be difficult and hurtful.

But the truth according to God’s Word is we can live free of offense and indeed we must. Jesus modelled this in the most extreme way when he forgave those who placed Him on the cross. Joseph modelled it when he said his brothers didn’t send him to Egypt (slavery) God did.

Taking offense destroys lives. Have a look at the progression that is always destructive.

Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

It always starts small; just a root of bitterness; just taking a small offense but it always causes trouble for us and others; in fact it ultimately defiles many.

Today you can be free of offense. Forgiving someone does not excuse their sin; it simply releases you from carrying a burden that Jesus said we don’t need to carry. Today cast your cares upon Him, forgive others and be free from offense.
