#4181 – Higher Standards

Good morning Bible believing people of God

I encourage you to prayerfully read through Matthew 5 today. As you do, ask God to reveal His heart and His instructions to you. In this passage we see God’s heart for Believers to be different from the world – not just a little bit, but a lot – not just an obtainable amount, but a supernaturally God-dependent amount.

Here’s just a few instructions from this passage for us to ponder.

Vs 19…anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others (by our example as well as our words) to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven.

Vs 21-22…you have heard it said “Do not murder”…I tell you anger that is acted on is a sin…

Vs 27-30…you have heard it said “Do not commit adultery”…I tell you that looking lustfully is committing adultery…you need to be ruthless to ensure this is not happening…

Vs 33-37…you have heard it said “Do not break your oath”…I tell you your integrity should be such that if you say “Yes” you mean “Yes”, and if you say “No”, you mean “No”…you should be completely trustworthy.

Vs 43-47…you have heard it said “Love your neighbour and hate your enemy”…I tell you love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

And then the chapter finishes with this instruction.

Matthew 5:48 Be perfect (complete in moral character), therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

May God help us all to live lives worthy.
