Good morning those who forgive others
One of the most important words that we can ever utter are the words “I forgive you”. So many are kept bound by the unforgiveness they carry. We often feel we are protecting ourselves by not forgiving others but we only end up prolonging and deepening our own pain, and as a result, defiling many.
While Jesus was on the cross, after having been mocked, ridiculed, beaten, falsely accused and terribly abused in the most violent of ways, His true heart still shone through. From this state of total betrayal by the ones He came to save, He looked past His own feelings and prayed for them.
Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
God’s heart is always for the sinner. God’s love is more powerful than the need to repay. God knows that forgiveness is needed by every person and that every person needs to forgive others in order to be free themselves.
What would God say to you today about forgiveness? Is there someone you are not forgiving because they don’t deserve it? Today you can be set free by letting go of that pain and forgiving them. Do you need to receive forgiveness yourself for things that you have done wrong? Like the sinner on the cross, it is not too late? God reminded us of the importance and the power of forgiveness on the cross. Today He desires you to be free and to release others into freedom. With God’s help we can walk free.
