Good morning people who live for the pleasure of your Father
Matthew 3:16-17 NKJV When He had been baptised, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Jesus’ obedience opened heaven and opened His eyes to see the Holy Spirit moving in His life.
His obedience also resulted in a verbalised affirmation from His Father, with a focus on His identity.
We live in a time where people desperately need to live in the affirmation of our Father in heaven.
As I said previously, our righteousness comes from Jesus, not from us. But our affirmation is connected to our obedience. This is not a contradiction – it is truth.
Jesus said it this way:
John 15:14 NKJV You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
It’s interesting to see how many times Jesus made statements in John 15 followed by promises, but with the little word “if” in between.
Obedience matters.
