Good morning brain-washed people
I remember when I was growing up in a Christian family, comments were made from people who did not have a relationship with God that I was just brainwashed. Back then in my ignorance I argued that was not true. In fact my logic was accurate; “I choose to believe what I do” and indeed there is truth in that statement.
But the more I think about it over recent times the more I realise every Believer must be brainwashed in order to become Christlike. The challenge is not being brainwashed but not being brainwashed enough.
Permit me to challenge us further. How much do we conform to the pattern of this world, that is, adopting the philosophies and patterns of living that is the same as one who is not in relationship with Christ? This is so easy to do and is often evidenced by too little a difference between a Christian and someone who is not.
The truth is there should be a noticeable difference between Christians and non-Christians. This difference should be in every facet of our lives. It should be in our thinking, our attitudes, our actions, our conversations…it should affect the whole.
Do I speak looking down on others with condemnation and self-righteous judgement? God forbid. I am fully aware of my own need for God on a moment by moment basis. I am fully aware of my desperate need to be brainwashed daily by God’s precious and powerful Word. I speak as one desperate for God’s fullness; for my life and for yours.
Tomorrow let’s look further at how we are brainwashed. For today let’s pray that the Holy Spirit reveals our need for daily brainwashing.
