Good morning people who are saved into a far superior life
Matthew 1:21 NKJV And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.
It’s interesting that it doesn’t say ‘save into eternal life’. It says ‘save from their sins’.
I’ve always theologically elevated ‘what God has done’ over ‘what we have done’. I’ve also theologically elevated ‘the presence of God’ over ‘the absence of sin’. And this is a right elevation.
But as I meditate on this verse, I see an essential and central need of man is to be saved from their sin.
This happens ‘in Christ’, but it must happen.
Never under-estimate the absolute need for sin to be dealt with in our lives.
The sin issue is a big issue. The sin issue is what keeps people from God. The sin issue is the root issue of everything that is not good. The sin issue needed to be dealt with once and for all.
Jesus gave His life to deal with the sin issue; our sin.
We must do the same, and we do it by receiving His Life and walking in it.
