Good morning people who know the God of salvation

Matthew 1:1 NKJV The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.

Jesus means ‘Jehovah is salvation’ (Strong’s g2424).

There is so much in this that I feel to lean into it for a few days. Please come with me on a journey of meditating on who our incredible Saviour and God is.

Jehovah (translated ‘Lord’ in the Old Testament) means ‘the self-Existent or Eternal One’ (Strong’s h3068).

Jesus is self-Existent:

This means He does not need anything else in order to exist. Nothing else in existence is self-existent. Only God.

Jesus is Eternal:

The means He is without beginning and without end. Nothing else in existence is without a beginning and without an end. Only God.

Jehovah – our self-Existent and Eternal God – is salvation.

The first mention of the word ‘salvation’ in the Old Testament is found here:

Genesis 49:18 NKJV I have waited for Your salvation, O LORD!

In this verse, ‘salvation’ means ‘deliverance’ and brings with it the truth of ‘aid, victory, prosperity, health, welfare’ (Strong’s h3444).

This is who our God is and this is what He does in our lives!
