#3963 – Even If Obedience

Good morning people who fully obey God in the face of contradiction

Genesis 22:9-10 NIV When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

‘Holding nothing back’ keeps us on course with God’s instructions despite personal contradictions.

Abraham had confidently declared that his God would provide a lamb for the sacrifice. He knew that God could do this, and he believed that he would.

But he was also committed to obeying God if he didn’t.

It reminds me of this verse concerning Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego before they were thrown into the blazing fiery furnace:

Daniel 3:17-18 NIV If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and He will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if He does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.

Are there conditions to your obedience?
