Good morning people who obey God quickly even when it’s difficult
Genesis 22:2-3 NIV Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.
‘Holding nothing back’ does not delay when God says something difficult and impossible to understand.
I cannot start to fathom what Abraham felt when God spoke about his son Isaac and uttered the words “Sacrifice him”.
A million questions. Confusion. Unbelief. Certainly a question as to “Am I hearing clearly?” Most certainly a prolonged period of prayer and fasting would have been valid.
But what we see is a ‘holding nothing back’ response that challenges us all:
Abraham set off in obedience ‘early the next morning’. Abraham knee that the longer you delay, the more likely you will disobey.
How quick is your obedience when God says something that you don’t want to hear?
