Good morning people who are learning to love like Jesus loves
1 Peter 4:8 NIV Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
I want to mention two things that leap out at me as I read this.
Firstly, there is no greater command or language than love.
The Book of 1 Peter talks about the many things that we are called to do (or not do) as we seek to live a holy life.
Every instruction is important, but none more so than the instruction that starts, ‘above all’. Love deeply.
Secondly, sincere love focuses more on the person than it does on sins committed.
This does not mean there is not a place to step away from toxic relationships or that there is no place for accountability. Both are valid.
But the focus of deep love truly wants the best for other people. This is to be our motivation, even when stepping back or accountability is necessary.
Deep love focuses on covering sin and loving people.
