Good morning people who take great care with the words that you speak

“If Jesus wouldn’t say it, then I won’t say it.”

In the third chapter of the Book of James, there is so much wisdom and insight into the power of the tongue; the words we say. I strongly encourage you to read and meditate on the whole chapter.

Today, as we meditate on speaking the same words that Jesus would speak, I feel to draw out a few verses.

James 3:6 NIV The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

Although this is a warning about the negative affect of poor speech, it really highlights the power of what comes out of our mouth!

James gives a further warning:

James 3:10 NIV Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

Our tongues were created to praise God and speak life to people – not to curse God and spew death over people.

May our words be life to many today and may they glorify God.
