Good morning people who pray when nobody is watching

Matthew 6:6 NIV But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, Who is unseen. Then your Father, Who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

I believe in corporate prayer. In fact, I believe it is one of the many things that Father is restoring in Jesus’ Church right now. Praying together shifts things in the spiritual realm! There is multiplied effectiveness when God’s people gather together in unity to corporately pray.

But Jesus also made it clear that praying in private is important.

As I meditate on this, I wonder if part of the reason for this is what we talked about yesterday: Sometimes we can pray in public for the purpose of being noticed and praised. Jesus wants to ensure our motivation is right.

I also wonder if there is a connection between powerful corporate prayer meetings and private individual prayer warriors who come together to do publicly what they also do privately.

So, let’s gather together and pray more than ever before. But let’s also pray in private more than ever before. Both are needed.
