#3693 – We Aren’t Perfect

Good morning people who do your best while trusting a perfect God

I Corinthians 13:9 NIV For we know in part and we prophesy in part.

None of us know everything. Some people think they do, but they are wrong.

To know everything would make us God, and we most definitely are not.

And so, I love this exhortation, encouragement and right perspective in this verse and in its context within 1 Corinthians 13.

As a prophet, I am a signpost who points people to God, but I am the first to say that I am imperfect, both in my knowledge of God and in my use of the gifts of God. Yes, I do my best, but I’m not perfect, and that’s OK with God.

Over the years, some of my theology has changed; some of the things I believe about God and His Word have changed. And this is not a bad thing – it is a right thing! To never change would in itself be a declaration of pride and “I know everything!” We don’t, and we never will.

I want to encourage us all to walk humbly, to minister humbly and to keep following the Holy Spirit’s lead into all truth.
