#368 – Follow God

Good morning God-followers

1 Kings 18:21 Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinion? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.

In Old Testament times people seemed to change religions and gods very easily. Many times it was simply based on which god appeared to be more powerful in the moment. It was to this culture of excessive idol worship that Elijah came and said “Enough’s enough. It’s time to make up your mind: who will you serve?”

Interestingly ‘the people said nothing’; they didn’t commit either way. There comes a time where we all must choose: who will we serve?

For many of us, we have chosen to follow Christ; to become Christians but today God is asking us a deeper question. Today it’s not simply about which religion will we adopt or buy into but as Elijah said, “It’s time to stop wavering between two opinions; if the Lord is God, follow Him”.

Many can accept Christ yet follow their feelings, the culture of the world and its standards or the latest philosophies and teachings. It’s time to move from accepting Christ to following Him with our whole heart. It’s time to follow Christ no matter what. It’s time to settle the questions that keep us in the middle ground and it’s time to say “The Lord He is God and I will follow Him”.

Joshua 24:14-15 Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.
