Good morning people who give when it costs because of LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:3 NIV If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have LOVE, I gain nothing.

This verse highlights sacrificial LOVE is more important than sacrifice.

Paul makes it clear that we can sacrifice much, yet still not do so from a motivation of LOVE. Paul is saying that motivation matters.

One could argue that people would only sacrifice because they LOVE, but the truth is, we can sacrifice much because of what we want. Some sacrifice can simply be fuel for selfish gain, or recognition and promotion of self. Motivation matters.

My question today is not “What are you sacrificing?”, but, “Why are you sacrificing?”

May LOVE be why we do what we do, including sacrificing.
