Good morning people who love people
Luke 9:51-55 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” But Jesus turned and rebuked them.
People rejected Jesus and His disciples wanted to destroy them. Jesus rebuked them. Why? Because this is opposite to the heart of Jesus. His heart is compassion and love. Sometimes we are too quick to judge those who reject Christ.
How’s your heart attitude towards those who have not accepted Jesus?
Sometimes we get ourselves in trouble when we expect unbelievers to act like believers. Sometimes our focus is on changing them and not on loving them as Jesus did.
What do unbelievers feel from us? Do they feel judgement and condemnation or love and grace?
I believe that one of our most prayed prayers should be “Lord, give me a heart of compassion for the lost; help me to see people as You do.”
If it’s God’s kindness that leads people to repentance, then it will be our kindness that leads them there also.
