Good morning people who have right theology that empowers right living
John 16:33 NIV I (Jesus) have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
Here’s two right equations for followers of Jesus Christ:
Following Jesus = trouble in life.
Following Jesus = peace in Life.
An easy Christian life doesn’t exist. No, I am not elevating trouble, nor am I being pessimistic – I am being honest, and I am being Biblical, and this is empowering to us all.
Look to see what God is saying in the following words of Jesus:
Matthew 5:43-45 NIV You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
As children of our heavenly Father, Jesus is telling us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us, because, He knows it will happen; it is part of life. This sounds like trouble to me!
Just think about the many examples of godly people who faced opposition, persecution, trouble and difficulty: Abraham, Moses, David, Esther, Ruth, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego…Paul, Peter…all of the disciples…you, me…every Believer.
Trouble is not evidence that you are outside of the will of God, but that you are alive.
Let’s look at the good news tomorrow, and if you want a hint of where we are heading and you want the encouragement today, carefully read the opening verse again.
