Good morning people who are aware of the enemy’s schemes

1 Peter 5:8 NIV Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

We have a vigilant adversary who will pounce on any opportunity to draw us away from the love, kindness, goodness and faithfulness of God.

Therefore, there is a need for the people of God to be vigilant about his attacks, his schemes, and his ways.

And this is what Peter is saying in this passage.

He instructs people to not be intoxicated (this is part of the original meaning) and to be thinking clearly.

It reminds me of another important scripture that is necessary if we are going to be aware of how the enemy attacks us, and if we are going to walk in victory over him:

1 Corinthians 6:12 NIV “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.”

I think I might lean into this further tomorrow.
