Good morning grace-honouring people
We live in a time where there is a lot of talk about grace; some do not give enough weight to the power of it in their lives while others appear to be all about grace but their lives are lived carelessly.
So what is the balance and is there a simple guiding principle for us today?
The truth is there is more grace than sin in the world today. The truth is the power of grace is more powerful than any and every sin. The truth is God’s grace is undeserved by all of us. The truth is the grace of God sets us free.
As a result of this amazing grace, this most powerful grace, I believe the only sincere and truly honest response is a love response that wants to please our wonderful God.
I love my wife and the longer I’ve been married the more I love her. A natural response of this is a desire to please her; not because I have to but because I want to. I do this by removing anything that could come between us. I do it by being ruthless with sin in my life and by focusing on loving her as Christ loves His Church. My thought is never “What can I get away with?” but rather “How can I love her more and show it to her?” Is it because I have to? No! Is it because if I don’t she might stop loving me? No! I do this because I simply love her and as a result, I want to honour her.
This should be our focus with grace and sin. Don’t focus on what’s acceptable but rather on how we can best show our love and gratitude to our amazing grace-giving God. I’ll say it again: the only sincere and truly honest response to God’s grace is a love response that wants to please our wonderful God.
