#3383 – In the Wilderness

Good morning people who point people to God in times of their own difficulty

Isaiah 40:3 NIV A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

I’ve always read this (and the reference of this to John the Baptist) as ‘A voice of one calling in the wilderness: prepare a way for the Lord…’

And indeed this is true.

But today I felt Father highlight a different focus, and that is:

It’s not about a voice in the wilderness calling to those who aren’t in the wilderness, “Prepare the way for the Lord!”

It’s about a voice calling to those who are in the wilderness: “While you are in the wilderness, prepare the way for the Lord!”

This is what John the Baptist did. While he was in the wilderness, he was preparing the way for the Lord.

Prophetically, I believe we are called to do the same.

It’s not about escaping the wilderness so we can prepare the way for the Lord – it’s about preparing the way for the Lord while we are in the wilderness.
