#3371 – Our Protector

Good morning people who see Father’s heart in the giving of the law

Over the coming days, I want to unpack this following passage, and see what Father wants to say.

Galatians 3:24-25 NIV So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

Firstly, ‘the law was our guardian’ – what an interesting thought.

A guardian is ‘a person who protects or defends something’.

The purpose of the law was not to control people, but to protect them – just like the Giver of the law still does today.

Another definition of guardian is ‘a person who is legally responsible for the care of someone who is unable to manage their own affairs’.

In the Old Testament, Father knew that His children, when left to their own devices, would make unwise choices – they were unable to manage their own affairs.

And so He gave the law. Again, He gave it to protect His people, because He loves them so much.

Thank You Father for Your heart towards your people.
