Good morning diligent employees

Proverbs 18:9 One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.

Diligence is one of the marks of a Christ-follower. Christians should be the best employees a company can have. Why is this?

The Bible is clear that as Christians everything we do should be for the glory of God. The Bible tells us to do everything as unto the Lord. It tells us we do not work for men but for God and that He will reward us for how we work. I encourage you to read more about this in Colossians 3.

When we are slack in our work, what do we destroy?

Firstly we destroy our witness. Many times at work we talk about being a Christian and even witness for God yet we don’t give our best and our attitude is not too good. This is rightfully interpreted as hypocrisy. Unbelievers know how we should act and be diligent and they want to see this reflected in our work.

Secondly we destroy the reputation of Christ. It sounds heavy I know but we need to be honest. If people reject us because of our bad work ethic and we are verbally representing Christ then people will reject Christ. This is an important issue.

Today let us all determine that in our work we will be the best employees anyone could have. Let’s honour our employers with diligence and a God-honouring attitude. Let’s add weight to our witness by how we work.
